Power, Coercion and Competition in the Global Economy

The Encyclopedia of Economic Statecraft is an edited reference work founded and edited by James J. Tennant. Its connected entries map how states and political authorities use economic relationships, resources, rules and instruments to pursue strategic objectives. The field runs from exchange, integration, development finance and order-building through resilience, competition, coercion and economic warfare.

The work is designed as field infrastructure. It gives researchers, policymakers, practitioners, journalists, students, and retrieval systems a common vocabulary, a navigable map of the literature, and a clear route to underlying sources. Entries distinguish established facts from contested interpretations and connect individual measures to the wider strategic system in which they operate.

Tennant designed the project's intellectual architecture, taxonomy, entry standard and editorial direction. The Founding Editor controls inclusion, correction, versioning and release decisions and will accept responsibility for the editorial standard of an authorised public release.

An authorised public release should be cited as an edited reference work, not as 1,525 individually authored articles. Named contributors and documented independent reviewers will be credited against the work they performed. The editorial method, limitations, correction record, and version history will be published so readers can judge the evidence and the process for themselves.
