Contribution policy

The Encyclopedia of Economic Statecraft accepts sourced corrections, improvements and proposals for new entries. James J. Tennant, Founding Editor, retains editorial control over selection, wording, structure and publication.

What may be submitted

• A correction to a factual claim, date, name, citation or link.
• Additional context that materially improves an existing entry.
• Replacement wording for a passage that is unclear, incomplete or out of date.
• A proposed entry within the Encyclopedia's stated scope.

Submissions should identify the exact change, explain why it is needed and include the proposed wording where possible.

Evidence standard

Every submission must include at least one stable URL, DOI or full citation. Primary sources, official records, legislation, judgments, scholarly research and authoritative institutional publications are preferred. A source should support the specific claim for which it is cited.

Unsupported assertions, promotional copy, anonymous allegations and material that cannot be checked will not be published.

Editorial review

All submissions enter a private moderation queue. Nothing is published automatically. The editor may verify the evidence, seek further information, revise the wording, combine overlapping proposals, defer a decision or decline a submission.

Acceptance of an idea does not require acceptance of the submitted wording. The Encyclopedia's taxonomy, style, citation rules and versioning system apply to every accepted change.

Interests and conflicts

Contributors must disclose any relevant employment, funding, representation, litigation, advocacy or close relationship with the subject. A disclosed interest does not automatically disqualify a submission, but it informs the level of scrutiny and any public note.

Credit

Minor corrections are normally recorded through the edition history without a public byline. A person who provides substantial original research, a significant body of verified evidence or a material intellectual contribution may be credited as a contributor or reviewer.

Public credit requires the contributor's agreement and editorial confirmation of the final wording. Submission alone does not create authorship, ownership, publication or attribution rights.

Rights and responsibility

Contributors must submit their own work or material they are authorised to provide. They remain responsible for the accuracy of their representations. Acceptance may require written confirmation of the terms on which the contribution can be edited, published, archived and attributed.

Privacy

Names, email addresses, affiliations and conflict disclosures are collected only to assess and discuss submissions, maintain an editorial record and protect the integrity of the work. Contact details are not published without permission. Submission records may be retained as part of the private editorial archive.

Decisions and corrections

Submission does not guarantee publication or a response by a particular date. Published changes follow the corrections, review and versioning procedures of the Encyclopedia. Editorial decisions remain with the Founding Editor.
